About us

Welcome to the

Evangelical Center of Turnhout

We are a group of christians with a wide range of ages and nationalities. We have members deriving from Belgium, the Netherlands, Romania, France, Brazil, the Philippines, Congo... We have one thing that connects us most of all: the love for our God. We join together to give praise to our Lord and learn more about Him. For us, the bible is center in all that we do. In our statement of beliefs we gladly talk more about this.

Every Sunday we have a worship in our church. This Sunday worship starts at 10h. For the children we provide an adapted program (Sunday school). If you're not a christian but just curious, you are still more than welcome to attend. The worship is in dutch, is free and again: everybody is welcome to attend.

During the week we provide organised activities such as bible studies, youth groups, women's groups and more. If you wish for more information, please do get in touch with us here.

Hope to see you soon. God bless you!

Our Statement of Beliefs

We believe in one God, the Creator, Sustainer and Finisher of heaven and earth. He is spirit, one in essence, existing from eternity in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is eternal, changeless, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent, infinite in love, truth and faithfulness, perfect in wisdom, justice and holiness.

We believe in Jesus Christ our Lord, the only begotten Son of God, who, conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, is true God and true man. We believe that He was crucified and died to reconcile us to God, that He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of God the Father. We believe that He will return in glory to unite with His church, to set up His kingdom of peace, and to judge the rebellious at the consummation.

We believe the Holy Spirit, who quickens through His work of regeneration and sanctification. Every born again believer is baptised with the Holy Spirit and thereby incorporated into the body of Christ, the church. He wants to fill every believer, guide them in truth, give them strength and cause them to bear fruit to the glory of God.

We believe that the entire Bible (the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) is the word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and therefore an infallible revelation, the source and only standard of faith and life.

We believe that man, created in the image of God, has through his own fault fallen out of his sinless state, and that as a result all have sinned and are lost, unable to save themselves. We believe that the Bible teaches eternal punishment for those who do not repent in their lifetime.

We believe that man is saved by grace alone, not by merit, through faith in Christ, not by works, by virtue of Christ's vicarious death alone.

We believe that Satan, a fallen angel and the adversary of God, is the causer of the fall, who still seeks to corrupt man by tempting him to sin with his lies. His destiny is judgment and eternal punishment.

We believe that all the dead will rise bodily, the believers to enter eternal life, the unbelievers to be condemned to eternal punishment.

We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the signs of baptism and the Lord's Supper: baptism as a witness to the believer's union with Christ in His death and resurrection, the Lord's Supper as a memorial, as a sign to the church of the new covenant, as a proclamation of Jesus' death on the cross, in anticipation of His return.

We believe that the church of Jesus Christ is formed by those whom He called out of the world, who profess His name in faith, who are cleansed by His blood and born again by His Spirit. All who belong to the church are called to live a holy life, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, to abstain from all that dishonors God, and to devote themselves to all that glorifies God. The church has the mission to proclaim the gospel worldwide.
